First, I would like to take a moment to say that I have a cropped version in my scraps as a Desktop Background. It makes a nice wallpaper, I think, and you can see the detail a little better, so take a look if you are curious. 
Seeking Shelter Desktop
OK, I submitted it as a WIP earlier, but now it is finished. It is for
‘s contest: HB’s 2007 Rurouni Kenshin Contest Check it out. The fandom is dwindling a little and so there aren’t as many entries, and it needs more support. Also, there are some nice pictures submitted so far, so you should check it out. ^__^x That you should.
The theme of the contest is what might have been, and so the first thing I thought of was Tomoe. There are so many things that might have been in her life. If things had been just a little different, there are all kinds of different endings one could imagine for her… also, there is a lot left unsaid in Kenshin and Tomoe’s relationship. There are big chunks of time where we don’t know what happened exactly.
So I drew a picture that could go either way.
Interpretation 1: This is an alternate ending piece, showing a happy ending instead of a sad ending for that chapter of Kenshin’s life. Kaoru lovers, please don’t hate me, there is another interpretation.
Interpretation 2: This is one of the missing scenes. They are together, falling in love, before the tragic ending.
About the Picture:I was going for a summer thunderstorms feeling to this. The ideas is that they were caught in a sudden rain storm, and both got a little wet. Tomoe opened her umbrella and insisted that Kenshin get under it too. He refused at first, but eventually agreed. Once under the umbrella, the mixed emotions of happiness and coziness with less then comforting thoughts lingering in the back of his mind set in, and he wished that time could just stand still. She has given herself up for the moment, and is holding onto it, wishing that it wouldn’t have to end. They are seeking shelter within each other, from the down pour of their lives… basically.
So anyway, I hope you enjoy it. ^__^x
